From a very young age, health and fitness has been a big part of my life. From being one of the youngest international black belts in martial arts at the age of eleven and in various sports teams throughout my academic career. I became more and more interested in the health aspect, learning about nutrition, how the body works and functions.
I had worked towards becoming a Physical Education teacher throughout my education with the intention of passing on the knowledge I had gained and the passion I had for all things related to health and fitness. Shortly after finishing high school, one of my closest family members suffered a life changing experience. It was through helping and being part of the rehabilitation process in the years that followed that gave me a real understanding of the impact that one to one or small group environments can enhance the learning and teaching process.
I acquired the training in order to alter my path to becoming a trainer and started my journey as a personal trainer working in a large, fast paced, and busy membership based gym. It was fantastic introduction into the industry where I lead group classes as well as working with members in one to one sessions and partner training. It was a fantastic and thought-provoking experience.
So what can make Personal Training more personal?
The answer was simple. Make it personal! Everyone is unique and requires an individually tailored program to succeed. The perfect plan isn’t the perfect plan if it’s impossible to carry out!
